General procedure: Amine (1.5 eq.) and appropriate aldehyde (1 eq.) were dissolved in MeOH/CH2Cl2 mixture(2:1 v:v), AcOH glac (1.5 eq.) was added, and the mixture was stirred under an Ar atmosphere at r.t.After 3 h, NaBH4 (6 eq.) was added, and stirring was continued for another 18 h. Solvent was removedunder reduced pressure, and the residue was dissolved in CH2Cl2. The organic layer was washed with2M NH4OH, water and then extracted with CH2Cl2.
